Although Van Gaal isn't out of the job yet, his departure seems imminent with the combination of United's poor form and boring football frustrating fans. The Dutchman has actually resigned from 6 of his last 8 jobs. Giggs has been caretaker manager for a period before but United are worried that he won't even consider that unless it is thought to lead to something permanent.
United face a rather tricky FA Cup tie against Derby on Friday and this potential banana skin could spell the end for Van Gaal. Giggs was linked with the then vacant job at Swansea previously but perhaps opted to stay at Old Trafford to keep himself in the running.
